Lincoln South Football Club would like to announce Swayne Ackland and Jacob Harvey as the Under 17’s coaches for 2020.
After taking the Eagles to premiership glory in 2019, the pair have accepted the position again and are aiming for further growth and development in the coming year.
The playing list will look quite different next year, with a large crop being elevated to the seniors, but have a flurry of talent coming up from the Under 15’s grand final side. The mix looks quite well balanced with top age / bottom age ratio and both coaches will spend time on development for the clubs big picture of providing A Grade talent for the coming years.
Swayne is a member of the local police force and Jacob has a Navy background so there is no compromise for discipline which was the catalyst for success last year along with a strong work ethic and a balance of fun and enjoyment.
Swayne came across to Souths in 2016 and is now considered a vital piece of the furniture within the clubs walls as a role model to many of our young footballers, whilst helping people in the wider Port Lincoln community. Swayne played Under 19’s at Glenelg and has been involved at other clubs around the state and his experience is a real asset. Did you know Swayne’s blood line runs with NBA great Patty Mills.
Jacobs highlights include Captaining the Royal Australian Navy team and the Australian Defence Force team, won a Best & Fairest for HMAS Cerberus, a Navy MVP award, played representative footy for the Defence Force and Yorke Peninsula and was selected in the Royal Australian Navy team of the decade. Jacob has also taken on a role as a specialist development coach for our transition program.
We wish Swayne and Jacob the best for 2020.
